Semi-Lagrangian methods are a generalization of the classical method of characteristics, proposed originally by Courant, Isaacson and Rees. These methods have been developed independently for applications in numerical weather prediction, computational fluid dynamics and plasma physics. They are very appealing for all advection dominated problems, because they are stable and accurate also at large Courant numbers. In this workshop, we would like to bring together scientists working on the further development and analysis of these methods to discuss a number of topics related to the theory and applications. The workshop is sponsored by:
R. Bermejo (Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, ES) E. Celledoni (Norwegian University of Science and Technology, N) M. Mehrenberger (Universite' de Strasbourg, FR) G. Russo (Università di Catania, IT) G. Tumolo (ICTP Trieste, IT) A. Vladimirsky (Cornell University, USA) N. Wood (Met Office, UK)
