Directions and Lodging information

Airports

There are two airports in Roma, namely Fiumicino (for most national and international flights) and Ciampino (for low-cost flight).

Directions from Fiumicino airport: you reach the center of Roma from Fiumicino either by taxi or by train. From Fiumicino airport to Roma Termini (which is Roma main train station and the best starting point to reach the hotels or the Math Department) take the express train which leaves at minutes 5 and 35 every hour. There is also a local train from Fiumicino airport to other train stations of Roma (Trastevere, Ostiense, Tiburtina) leaving at minutes 12, 27, 42, 57 every hour (on Sundays only at mintes 27 and 57 every hour). The ticket can be bought at the train station of the airport and is valid for a ride on subways and buses of Roma. The cost of the ticket for the express train is 10 Euro, while for the local train is 5 Euro. The cost of the taxi from the airport to the center of Roma should be around 50 Euro.

Directions from Ciampino airport: from Ciampino airport to Roma Termini, which is Roma main train station and the best starting point to reach the hotels or the Math Department, there is a direct bus service by Terravision. Service is in connection with flights Ryanair, Easy-Jet, Hapag Lloyd Express, Wizz Air, Voli Regionali, My Air, Blue Air, Central Wings and Flyme (for timetable click here). Where are the hotels?

Most of the partecipants will stay at the Hotel La Palma, or at the Hotel Luzzatti. Please write to one of the organizers if you want to make a reservation in one of these hotels, or if any question regarding your stay in Roma.

From Fiumicino/Ciampino airport to Hotel La Palma: first take a train or a bus to Roma Termini (see directions above), then you can either take a taxi or bus no. 36 to Nomentana/Trieste (6th stop) - see map.

From Fiumicino/Ciampino airport to Hotel Luzzatti: first take a train or a bus to Roma Termini (see directions above), then you can either take a taxi or tramway no. 14 (see map) to Pricipe Eugenio/Manzoni (3rd stop) - see map.

From Hotel La Palma to the Math Department: walk to Viale Regina Margherita (see map) and take tramway no. 3 (Trastevere) or no. 19 (Gerani) to Viale Regina Elena (6th stop). You can also walk to the University (see map).

From Hotel Luzzatti to the Math Department: walk to Porta Maggiore (see map) and take tramway no. 3 (P.za Thorwaldsen) or 19 (P.za Risorgimanto) to Piazzale del Verano. See also this link

Where is the Math Department?

The workshop will be held at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Roma "La Sapienza". The main entrance of the campus is in Piazzale Aldo Moro and side entrances are in via Cesare De Lollis, viale Regina Elena and via dell'Università (see map). Here is a map of the campus; the Math Department is on the bottom, close to via Cesare De Lollis.

From Roma Termini Train Station to the Math Department: take bus no. 310 to via dell'Università (4th stop) or walk following this map

From Tiburtina Train Station to the Math Department: take bus number 492 to via Cesare De Lollis (4th stop) or buses no 71,163,443,448,545 to Piazzale del Verano (4th stop, few meters from via Cesare De Lollis).
